Theme: Temptation vs. Truth.

In this children’s sermon, we learn what Lent is and how to prepare ourselves for Easter. We explore the meaning of temptation using a memorable object lesson with two gift bags—one flashy but full of disappointment, and one simple but filled with truth and life.

Just like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and Jesus during His 40 days in the wilderness, we learn that the Devil often tempts us by making bad choices look good. But Jesus shows us how to resist temptation by trusting God, remembering His promises, and choosing what is right—even when it’s not the easiest.

This lesson helps children recognize temptation in their own lives, especially during Lent, and teaches them to turn to God for strength whenever they feel pressured to give in.

Key Takeaway: When we are tempted, we can call on God for strength. The devil offers false promises wrapped in pretty packaging, but God offers real hope, real love, and real life. Just like Jesus resisted temptation, we can say:
“No, Satan—I'm choosing God!”
