Key Scriptures: Luke 15:11–24 – The Parable of the Prodigal Son & Philippians 1:6 – “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.”
Theme: God is always at work in our lives, repairing, reshaping, and guiding us back when we wander off the right road. We are all “under construction” until the day we see Jesus.
In this engaging children’s sermon, a long, never-ending highway project becomes a fun and relatable picture of our faith journey. Just like a busy road is constantly being repaired, widened, and improved, our lives are always under God’s construction.
The message ties in Jesus’ Parable of the Prodigal Son as a boy who takes the wrong exit in life—chasing excitement, hitting potholes, and ending up in a “dead-end” pig field. When he humbly turns back home, he discovers grace, welcome, and unconditional love from his father.
Kids learn that when we make wrong turns, God is still working on our hearts, guiding us back to Him.
Key Takeaway: I am a work in progress. God is still working on me, fixing my mistakes, smoothing out my rough spots, and He won’t give up until His good work in me is complete.
