Key Scripture: James 2:14–17 & Matthew 25:35–40
Theme: True faith leads to loving action. When we help others, we are serving Jesus Himself.
This children’s sermon/message teaches that faith in Jesus and loving actions naturally belong together—just like peanut butter & jelly or a lock & key. Using a fun matching game to introduce the lesson, kids learn that our faith becomes meaningful when we show God’s love through kindness, service, and helping others.
James tells us that “faith without works is dead,” but this message clearly explains that good deeds don’t earn us a place in heaven. Instead, they grow out of our love for Jesus. The sermon highlights Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 25—when we serve others, we are serving Him. Everyday object pairs help children see that a Christian life without acts of love is incomplete, just like a hammer without a nail or a needle without thread.
Key Takeaway:
Real faith shows up in real action. Because we love Jesus, we love and serve others—putting our faith to work in everyday life.
