Theme: Jesus Invites Us to Seek Him—and to Invite Others to “Come and See”

This sermon helps children understand that following Jesus begins with curiosity, questions, and an open invitation. Just as Jesus invited the first disciples to “come and see,” He invites us to discover who He is and share that invitation with others.

This children’s message begins with a relatable experience—trying to find a special gift while Christmas shopping. Children learn how store employees ask, “What are you looking for?” to help guide them.

In the Gospel story, Jesus asks that same question—but on a much deeper level. Instead of Jesus seeking out the disciples (as in other Gospels), John shows two followers of John the Baptist seeking Jesus. When Jesus notices them, He turns and asks: “What are you looking for?” He isn’t asking what toy they want or what aisle they need. He is asking about their hearts—what they long for, what they hope for, and what they truly need in life.

Key Takeaway: Jesus invites each of us to “come and see” who He is—and calls us to invite others to discover His love, joy, and hope for their lives.
