God's Love Transforms: A Complete VBS Curriculum Bundle
Some kids come to VBS thinking Bible stories are about other people — people from a long time ago who were braver, better, and more ready than they will ever be. This curriculum is designed to change that.
God's Love Transforms is a complete five-day Vacation Bible School curriculum built around one of Scripture's most consistent and compelling themes: God doesn't wait for perfect people. From Moses hiding in the wilderness to Saul blinded on the road to Damascus, the thread running through every day of this week is the same — God sees people others overlook, meets them exactly where they are, and makes something new.
By Friday, the goal is for every child to leave knowing that transformation isn't something that only happened in the Bible. It's something God is doing right now. Including in them.
The Five Days:
- Day 1 — Moses: Wanted: One Unlikely Leader (Exodus 2:1-15, 3:1-17)
- Day 2 — Esther: Right Person, Right Time (Esther 2–5)
- Day 3 — Levi: From Ledger to Legacy (Matthew 9:9-13)
- Day 4 — Saul: Losing Sight to Finally See (Acts 9:1-19)
- Day 5 — Us: The Story Isn't Over (Romans 12:1-2)
What's Included:
- Leader Overview — Big idea, daily themes, scripture references, and a complete guide to the curriculum's structure and flow
- Opening and Closing Worship Plans — Full-group gathering scripts with song suggestions, upfront games, and closing rituals for all five days
- Bible Exploration Lessons — Story-based, engagement-driven lessons including first-person monologues, small group discussion questions tiered by age, and leader prep guides
- Craft Activities — Step-by-step instructions with supply lists and leader notes connecting each craft to the day's theme
- Game Plans — Two game options per day, each theologically connected to the story with built-in debrief questions
- Mission Activities — Take-home and in-session activities that move kids from receiving the story to living it out
A Note on the Caterpillar Theme:
Woven throughout this curriculum is an optional but deeply rewarding extension: ordering live caterpillars for your VBS week. As children move through five days of stories about transformation, they also watch real caterpillars begin their own journey. The curriculum's craft and mission activities connect naturally to this living thread — and when VBS ends, children take their butterflies home to release them, carrying the week's big idea quite literally out into the world with them.
This element is optional and requires advance planning — full details are included in the materials. But congregations that use it will find it becomes the thing kids remember for years.
Ideal For: Churches planning a traditional VBS week, children's ministry summer programming, or any congregation looking for a multi-day curriculum that takes both theology and kids seriously. This curriculum was developed and field-tested by First Light Fellowship, a PCUSA congregation, and is offered here for other communities of faith to use and adapt freely.
